Update on Arts Sphere(Esplanade project)

Deliverable- Do a promo for the performance.

CONFUSION!
We were so confused about what we are really supposed to do for this project. Initially, we focused too much on the script of the sister's island story that is given. Thus we went one-tracked and had ideas of only about the story of Sisters' Island. Then, we consulted Miss Tina and realized that we went to the wrong track.

And we got the idea finally.

OBJECTIVES:

1)Is to show the audience & client what they are looking for when the visuals are being played during the performance & what is it aboutt.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE VISUALS:

1) The actual events of the arts-sphere

-Informing the audience about their performance that will be held in esplanade

2) Promoting the orchestra in a way through the moving visuals

- Like an advertisement for the orchestra

INITIAL IDEA

This idea focused too much on the sister's island and lose the main point which is to promote the performance by the Arts Sphere.

Then after we discussed with Miss Tina, we brainstormed more ideas which are not so literal and a bit of abstraction.

1) Combining the instruments and the story of sisters' island (portraying the mood of the whole piece by the music and the emotions that are felt in the story)

However, it is still a bit too literal.

More ideas brainstormed.

2) Hands movement
- gestures of the hands when they are playing the instruments
- graphics and subtle colours will be added as the hands move.

3) Using semiotics and symbolism
-extract the main emotions that is felt in the sisters' island story
-Love
-Tension
-Separation
-Grief
Conveying it in a more abstract way.

(One of our idea, using birds to represent the sisters.)

4)Using textures, colors & abstraction to evoke the emotions that is being portrayed through the music about the sisters island (More experimental)

TREATMENT
1) Sand animation

2)Papercuts

3)Shadow & silhouttes

All these emotions were divided among us to sketch out the ideas on how can we potray these emotions visually and capturing the right mood of the whole music piece.
